100-Level Experience Courses
Our Grand Challenge Experience courses, which are designed for first-year students (including first-year transfer students). Each course fulfills the requirements for at least one General Education category. GCL Experience courses recognize that education means more than the passive transmission of skills and information. Experiential learning entails a student-centered focus that may involve projects, design, art, service learning, or community-engaged scholarship. In a Grand Challenge Learning context, experiential learning helps to build bridges between theory and practice enabling students to explore deep-seated dilemmas that cross many disciplines. Since enrollment is capped at 25, GCL Experience courses build collaborative environments that put student inquiry and reflection at the center of the learning experience.
